The Science Learning Area is designed to develop scientific literacy that places a high priority on helping all citizens to be interested in and to understand the world around them. It also helps them to engage in the discourses of and about science, to be sceptical and to question other people's claims on scientific matters, to be able to identify questions and draw evidence-based conclusions, and to make informed decisions about the environment and their personal health and well-being.
